Don't it make my brown eyes blue?

Last night, after getting home from watching "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!" and having sushi for the umpteenth time in the last month, I went home and watched "Bend It Like Beckham" yet again. Today is the official start of the Bend it Like Beckham Movie Tally. I’m guessing that so far I’ve seen it 15 times since I got the DVD. I want to do this scientifically because I might as well use my good for nothing Biology degree to pursue personal amusement. We will discount the previous viewings so that the final data set isn’t tampered with conjecture! Bend It Tally as of 01.30.04: one.

I can’t quite figure out why I don’t get tired of certain movies sometimes. I also can’t figure out what the hell is going on with Kate Bosworth’s eyes. In "Blue Crush," they have certain close up scenes where one eye is blue and another is brown, and in others both eyes are brown. In "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!" she has the one blue eye and one brown eye thing, and in a few tight close up shots she has two blue eyes. I guess that the movie ‘powers-that-be’ figure that people aren’t going to notice. I really hope that the general public is a tad (ha ha ha) bit more observant that they deem us to be.

The technical term for Kate’s eyes is Heterochromia iridis. It’s when one iris of the eye is a different color than the other. It’s either genetic or caused by accidents (ouch!). Eyes are different colors because of the type and amount of coloring, or pigment, and the way that light is scattered through the iris.

What color are your eyes?

Brown eyed girl: Brown eyes contain a pigment called melanin. The more melanin you have the darker the shade of brown is.

Ole’ blue eyes: People with blue eyes have an iris that is colorless. Light is scattered through this colorless iris, which makes the eyes seem blue.

Green eyed monster: People have a yellow pigment (xanthin) present in their iris, and when scattered blue light goes through it makes them appear green.

Like, Kate Bosworth, I am also a genetic anomaly. I have brown eyes that have dark blue rims. When different colors appear within the iris it’s called Sectoral heterochromia iridis.

Kate’s eyes aren’t half as distracting as Forest Whitaker’s. I think the same person who told J.Lo her voice was “really good” told Forest that his eyes weren’t “really distracting.”

Older and wider

I’m currently reading a book called, “Procrastination – Why you do it, what to do about it.” I bought it in December and haven’t gotten around to reading it until now. You would think that this in itself would really clue me into the depths of my procrastination skills, but no. I really was too busy to read it. It takes effort to sit in this cube and watch my ass grow, dammit.

And so it begins.

It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights.

It’s time to get things started…

Why don’t you get things started?
