Music makes the people come together
Lots of things have been going down 'round these parts. The biggest recent epiphany is that your day job is much more tolerable when 1.) you aren't on the PMS rampage, 2.) when you have other things to look forward to and to occupy your mind, 3.) when you just don't give a flying fuck anymore, and 4.) when you are going to Hawaii in 25 days.I overheard some girls talking to each other the other day and one said, "Ohmygosh - do you remember that summer I was a SKATER?," and then they all started laughing. We all have different personas that we try on. My newest reincarnation is of "music writer." I'm doing this gig for a new magazine that is allegedly coming out in October. I say allegedly because the editor knows absolutely nothing about being a reporter, running a magazine, or writing for that matter. It will be a miracle if the magazine comes out. If it does and it's a success then I will officially eat my words on a plate with some rice and beans on the side. Being a "music writer" is pretty cool. It's like being an intellectual groupie. You get free music, free tickets, you get to bask in the proximity of fame ... but then you have to go and actually write the story. I've put off transcribing my interview notes for 5 days (and, note to file, I still haven't finished my book on how to curb procrastination) and the thought of the actual work involved is a bit tiring.
I was reading the paper online this morning, and I found out that Madonna is going to go on tour this spring and summer. Right after I read this, my friend IM'ed me and asked me what I wanted for my birthday, so of course the only correct answer was MADONNA TICKETS. We are going to orchestrate an elaborate plan in order to get tickets to either the Vegas, LA, or San Jose show. I know so many people out there think that she's so over but I have been worshipping at the altar of Madonna since the impressionable age of 8, when I danced around the house pretending to be in the "Lucky Star" video. If I don't get tickets this time around I may seriously be ready to donate my cadaver to science, because Maddy is getting up there in years, and who knows when and if she'll do another tour? I HAVE TO SEE MADONNA ON TOUR, PEOPLE. It's a destiny I must fulfill!
